Microsoft Outlook

Today I really messed up.....at least for some. I attempted to put our faculty meetings on everyones personal calendar. However in order to do recurring appointments the dates need to be consistent. Our meetings are once a month, but not necessarily on the first Monday. I plugged in all Monday's and then deleted the ones I didn't need. I then invited all teachers as attendees. It sent them the 8 dates to accept, but it also sent them the 24 cancellations from the Mondays I didn't need. Teachers were really confused when they got 24 cancellations.

Evals

I read some other posts from collegues about hand held devices and evaluations. I would have to agree with them. Although lightweight, portable, and convenient, they can be very difficult to operate because they are so small. I'm sure once you get used to them things will become easier.

Football technology

Chris and I commentate on the Friday night football games. Usually the gaems are copied onto DVD or rebroadcast on cable. Sometimes they are broadcast live on the internet. This past Friday was one of those nights. My wife listened in from home but she said the quality was not the best. I think the video was OK, but the audio was a little "choppy". Hopefully they can fix the technical problems soon.

Technology slowing us down?

I love technology, but I wonder if it ever slows us down? The benefit of technology is usually the speed, but sometimes we get overwhelmed by all it encompasses. I find myself constantly checking my computer, checking my phone, texting someone, tweeting, doing work online, creating various documents electronically, et cetera. Even when I''m away from school I always check back in to see if there are any messages (on my phone/email). I know I am in control of these things, but I can't seem to stop. I remember 10 years ago (before most of these items were readily available) I seem to occupy my time with other things. Maybe I didn't get anymore accomplished, but it sure seemed like it.

Softball

Unfortunately our softball team lost to Nixa tonight. It was tough but in the end they out hit us. We struggled at the plate. Our JV team won 9-3.

Supervision

I think the supervision season has officially begun. After running at 5:00 AM I got to school around 6:30 AM. I worked all day, stayed after school and got the field and press box organized and then got ready for the game. I supervised the game (in the rain) and turned off the lights around 10:00. I still had to visit with one of the custodians and adjust the water time on the field since it was raining. After that I went to Taco Bell, picked up my daughter coming back from the Webb City softball game and then headed home to finish my Standard 3 assignment. It's almost midnight so I'm headed to bed so I can get up and do it all over again.

Cowboys win

It's always easier to work when the Cowboys win. When they lose it makes for a long day. They were able to win the season opener.
I've enjoyed reading some of the other posts by people in the class. I've noticed there is a lot of variety out there when it comes to technology. Every school appears to be in different stages, but having success.
